Short answers to the questions people ask most about MangoMap. Each answer links to the page with the detail.
The free trial
What do I get in the free trial?
A 30-day trial with the Enterprise feature set. You do not need to enter payment details. See How to create an account.
What happens when the trial ends?
Your maps stop working for viewers, and the account owner must choose a paid plan to continue. MangoMap keeps your maps and data for 30 days after the trial ends. To continue, see How to upgrade from trial to paid.
Can I extend my trial?
You cannot extend the trial yourself. If you need more time, contact support.
Plans and billing
Which plan do I need?
Compare the plans and their features on the pricing page. The plans differ in their features and in these allowances:
| Plan | Base maps | Base storage | Viewers | Add-ons |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Business |
20 | 4 GB | 0 | Not available |
Enterprise |
40 | 8 GB | 100 | Available |
Agency |
100 | 16 GB | Unlimited | Available |
Can I change my plan at any time?
Yes. A change applies at once, and MangoMap charges or credits the difference for the rest of the billing cycle. You cannot move to a plan whose limits are below what you use now. See How to manage your subscription.
Do I need a long-term contract?
No. You can pay monthly, annually, or for 2 to 5 years, and you can cancel at any time. When you cancel, access ends at once. See How to cancel your subscription.
Are there discounts?
Yes. Annual saves 20%, and a 2- to 5-year cycle saves 30%. See Billing cycles.
For a non-profit or large-team discount, contact sales.
How do I pay?
By Visa, Mastercard, or American Express card when you check out. See Payment method.
To pay by invoice and bank transfer, contact support.
How much do extra users cost?
Admin and Editor seats are paid add-ons on the Enterprise and Agency plans. Viewer users do not take a paid seat, but each plan has a limit on how many you can have. See Add-ons and seats.
Limits
How many maps can I make?
Each plan has a map limit, and you can add more maps with an add-on. See What happens at the map limit.
Is there a limit on layers?
No. A map can have any number of layers, and you can use a dataset on any number of maps.
Do you limit map views or charge for usage?
No. MangoMap does not limit or count map views, and it has no usage credits. You pay the price of your plan and add-ons.
What counts against my storage limit?
The size of each dataset after MangoMap imports it. A vector dataset can be larger or smaller than the file you uploaded. A raster counts at the size of the file you uploaded. A WMS layer uses no storage. See Storage limit reached when importing.
Your data
What is the difference between a dataset and a layer?
A dataset is your data. A layer is that data, styled, on one map. See Datasets and layers in MangoMap.
Which file formats can I upload?
Shapefile, GeoJSON, CSV, KML, MapInfo TAB, File Geodatabase, and GeoTIFF. You can also connect a WMS service. See Supported file formats and limits.
How do I keep my maps up to date when my data changes?
Upload a new file to the dataset, or connect it to Dropbox so it updates by itself. Every map that uses the dataset shows the new data. See Data updates.
Which browsers and devices does MangoMap work on?
Current versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. Maps work on desktops, tablets, and phones. See Supported browsers and devices.
Sharing and your team
Who can see my maps and datasets?
New maps and datasets are private. You choose who can open each one: your team through access groups, or everyone on the web. See How map access works and How dataset access works.
What can people on my team do?
It depends on their role (Viewer, Editor, Admin, or Owner) and on the access groups they are in. Only the account owner can change the plan or billing. See Account roles reference.
Can I embed a map in my website?
Yes, with an embed code that you paste into your page. See How to embed a map in another website.
Can I use my own domain, brand, and wording?
Security
How is my data protected, and where is it hosted?
MangoMap runs on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Your data is encrypted when it is stored and when it is sent over the internet. See Hosting, security, and compliance, and MangoMap’s Data Security, Processing & Storage page for the current details.
When I delete a map or dataset, is it really gone?
Yes. MangoMap deletes it permanently, and you cannot restore it. Deleting a map does not delete its datasets. See How to delete a map and How to delete a dataset.
